Paris in the Clouds by RENOSTUD.IO

Paris in the Clouds by RENOSTUD.IO was reimagined to better suit a young couple working in finance, with comfort and long-term flexibility shaping the project from the outset.

With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, the brief centred on giving the master suite more presence within the plan, expanding it into a space that could hold daily routines, storage and quiet pause in equal measure.

To create a larger, more comfortable primary bedroom, two existing rooms were combined. The entrance to the middle room was sealed and the dividing wall between the middle and end rooms removed, allowing the master suite to claim the footprint needed for a dedicated wardrobe zone that feels generous rather than compressed. Function was further layered into the room through a custom island, designed as both practical storage and a subtle anchor within the space. A vanity was positioned close to the window, bringing natural light to the everyday rituals that happen there.

Elsewhere, one of the remaining rooms was deliberately kept adaptable. In the near term, it can operate as a workspace, while still holding the possibility of change as the clients’ needs shift over time, including plans for children.

A modern Victorian sensibility guided the aesthetic direction, expressed through classic detailing such as wall beading and light timber floors. As the design developed, additional preferences emerged: arches and fluted elements became recurring features, integrated with restraint but placed where they could quietly elevate the experience of daily use. Fluted detailing appears on wardrobe doors, the bedroom island and bathroom doors, while arches soften the dining feature wall and the dressing table, easing the geometry of hard corners with curved transitions.

In the kitchen, contrast drives the material story. A countertop and backsplash with bold, expressive grain offset the cream, textureless laminates of the upper and lower cabinetry. Behind the hood, green tiles add an unexpected tonal shift, complementing the purple movement within the stone and introducing a richer surface texture.

The dining area extends the home’s decorative language through a custom dry pantry, built into the wall and framed by an arched opening. Shelving provides space for display, while warm integrated lighting draws attention to textured tiles and the objects set against them. In the hall, beading continues to give the walls depth and character, reinforcing continuity across the home’s shared spaces.

Even the bomb shelter is treated as part of the interior rather than an interruption. It is concealed with a false wall, with additional storage integrated behind, all finished in matching beading so the volume reads as a coherent architectural feature. The bathrooms bring a sharper sense of personality. In the guest toilet, floral printed tiles introduce charm and a slightly whimsical counterpoint to the more classic finishes elsewhere.

In the master bathroom, a black-and-white checkered floor sets a timeless base, while red textured shower tiles add a bolder note. Both bathroom doors were custom-made locally with hidden hinges, maintaining clean lines and a seamless presence. Guided by Victorian references but shaped by the clients’ evolving preferences, Paris in the Clouds balances detail, colour and planning clarity to create a home that feels tailored, layered and distinctly personal.
