Friends with Frank Armadale by Georgina Jeffries
Friends with Frank's second Melbourne boutique builds on the identity established by its Fitzroy flagship while introducing a more confident and sculptural expression.
Designed by Georgina Jeffries, the Armadale store reflects the fashion label's appreciation for craftsmanship, materiality and enduring design, creating a retail environment that feels intimate, expressive and deeply considered. Conceived as a distinct counterpart to its predecessor, the boutique embraces a richer architectural language while maintaining the warmth that defines the brand.
Throughout the interior, bold geometric forms are balanced by softer architectural gestures to create a setting that is both refined and inviting. Stepped architraves frame openings with sculptural precision, while geometric display systems, stainless steel fixtures and dappled glass introduce a contemporary edge. Parquet flooring lends warmth beneath foot, and curved ottomans, existing pillars and a generous skylight soften the composition, allowing light and texture to shape the experience of the store. Richly draped curtains add a sense of occasion, defining moments of privacy and elegance without compromising the openness of the plan.
A carefully selected collection of vintage furniture sits alongside contemporary pieces, bringing layers of familiarity and character into the boutique. This dialogue between old and new gives the interior the comfort of a lived-in home, encouraging visitors to slow down and engage with the collection in a more personal way. Beyond the retail floor, fitting rooms are enclosed with buttery curtains and anchored by an oversized mirror, recalling the quiet luxury of a private dressing room and extending the sense of hospitality throughout the experience.
For Georgina Jeffries, the design explores the meeting point between residential comfort and contemporary retail, creating an environment that feels welcoming while celebrating the rituals of discovering and trying on clothing. As the designer explains, "Built on shared values and an appreciation for craftsmanship and detail, the space was designed to stand confidently alongside its Fitzroy counterpart while establishing its own distinctive character." Through thoughtful material choices and carefully composed architectural details, Friends with Frank Armadale offers a sophisticated new chapter for the brand while reinforcing its enduring sense of authenticity.
