PVD Residence by Sep Studio
Amid Bangkok's dense and dynamic fabric, PVD Residence by Sep Studio offers a measured counterpoint: a calm, three-storey family home shaped by craft, quiet richness, and a deep consideration of how spaces connect and feel.
Designed for a couple of young entrepreneurs and their two children, the house is composed as a spatial sequence. One that values clarity, intimacy and material authenticity. Sep Studio approached the project with an intent to create a home that feels light yet grounded, offering privacy without disconnecting from its surroundings. The result is a dwelling that supports the pace of daily life while maintaining a sense of composure and permanence.
At the centre of the home, a soaring double-height dining room anchors the plan, drawing together the living area, courtyard, swimming pool, and upper-level circulation. Large expanses of operable glass let light shift across textured surfaces, allowing the atmosphere to evolve throughout the day. This central space acts as the emotional core of the home, facilitating both physical movement and moments of connection.
A Conde House dining table sits at the centre of the room, paired with classic TON 811 chairs, an ensemble of quiet utility and elegance. A bespoke chandelier floats above, accentuating the vertical volume without dominating it. Across the home, furniture and lighting are deliberately sparse yet sculptural, supporting the larger intent of simplicity and warmth. In the adjoining living room, a Natuzzi leather sofa and Sika armchair by Nanna Ditzel are positioned over a warm timber floor, grounded by a coffee table from De La Espada. The palette is restrained but tactile: oak, Venetian plaster, travertine.
Selections throughout the home were made not just for their beauty, but for their personal resonance. Sep Studio focused on creating a setting that would mature gracefully and accumulate meaning over time. Custom furniture and crafted details contribute to an atmosphere that feels layered, enduring, and genuinely lived in.
A standout gesture in the living room is the custom TV cabinet clad in handwoven raffia and cotton by Indonesian studio ROA. Referencing traditional Tapis textiles from Sumatra, the piece introduces a subtle sense of heritage. For Sep Studio, this was not about ornamentation for its own sake, but about incorporating cultural references in an understated, contemporary way.
Each of the five bedrooms reflects the occupant's character and needs. In the daughter's bedroom, light timber furniture and a custom colour scheme offer a vivid but balanced retreat. The son's room is bolder, featuring a geometric corner desk in deep blue, a yellow Story Bookcase by Design Within Reach, and cool-toned Venetian plaster walls that lend a graphic, gallery-like quality.
The couple's own bedrooms, his and hers, are treated as distinct yet complementary sanctuaries. Her bedroom is soft and neutral, centred around a bamboo headboard by Amo-Arte (Thailand) and a travertine-top desk carved with gentle edges. Lighting by Lumina and Louis Poulsen offers intimate moments of glow and shadow. By contrast, his bedroom is moody and grounded in deep tones. A handwoven gold headboard by ROA and tone-on-tone leather layering introduce depth and tactility, balanced by a deep blue rug and sculptural lighting by Tommaso Cimini.
The guest bedroom is calm and pared back, defined by natural textures and a soft, adaptable palette.
Throughout the residence, the detailing is quiet but exacting. Custom furniture and joinery pieces are built to last, not only physically, but emotionally, as part of the family's daily rituals. There is an ease to the composition, where nothing feels forced, and each room supports a distinct mood without breaking continuity.
Sep Studio sees the project not as a platform for grand gestures, but as an opportunity to create stillness and quality. The result is a home that feels intuitive, responsive, and timeless.
In a city known for its rapid change and intensity, PVD Residence is a study in lasting calm. Through an integrated approach that honours both craftsmanship and contemporary living, Sep Studio has crafted a home that balances material richness with human comfort, one that elevates the everyday while remaining firmly grounded.
