Drift chair by BrichetZiegler for Theoreme Editions
Paris-based studio BrichetZiegler introduces the Drift Chair – a refined, architectural seating object that distills structure down to its essence. Engineered with precision and shaped with sensitivity, the chair expresses a duality between tension and lightness, technical rigour and poetic clarity. Its form is defined by sharp, fluid lines and finely resolved intersections that appear to float above the ground.
The chair’s cantilevered seat contributes to its suspended character, while a restrained material thickness reinforces this sense of levitation. Every component interlocks with seamless continuity, reducing construction to its purest expression. In either American walnut, natural oak or cerused oak, the Drift Chair celebrates the natural grain of the timber. A polished oil finish heightens the material’s expressive quality, bringing warmth and softness to the sharply contoured silhouette.
Comfort is carefully considered through a selection of interchangeable cushions in rich textures and tones – from tactile fabric to smooth, sculptural leather. This contrast brings vibrancy and a sense of personalisation to the otherwise elemental structure.
Handcrafted by skilled artisans in France, each Drift Chair is individually numbered and signed, underlining its status as a collectible piece.

The object is an extension of Studio BrichetZiegler’s unique sensibility – one that sits confidently between craft and industry, engineering and emotion. Founded in 2010 by Caroline Ziegler and Pierre Brichet, the studio operates from a workshop in the French Alps, a space of experimentation where material, technique and form converge. Their work is deeply rooted in the principles of modern craftsmanship, with past projects now housed in permanent collections such as Mobilier National and CNAP.
BrichetZiegler’s practice often draws on architectural and sculptural references – from the clarity of Scandinavian and Italian design to the sculptural rigour of figures like Isamu Noguchi and Carlo Scarpa. This ongoing dialogue with material and history fuels the studio’s ability to produce objects that are both refined and evocative.
The Drift Chair is a continuation of this language – an object that feels at once grounded and elevated, pragmatic and quietly expressive.
