Adelaide Design Week every*one 2026

Returning for its second edition from 14 to 18 October 2026, Adelaide Design Week celebrates the relationships behind creative practice, connecting studios, galleries and everyday spaces across the city.

A design culture is built through encounters. Conversations in a workshop, exchanges between generations and collaborations across disciplines all contribute to how ideas take shape. This October, Adelaide Design Week brings these connections into focus with every*one, a five-day festival running from 14 to 18 October 2026. More than 80 events and activations will bring practitioners and the public together across metropolitan Adelaide.

The theme follows the festival’s inaugural every*where edition in 2025, which saw more than 100 designers and makers activate galleries, studios, laneways and temporary spaces. That first program opened Adelaide’s design community to the city. This year’s attention turns to the people who sustain it, exploring how shared knowledge, collaboration and differing perspectives inform creative work.

The opening exhibition gives this premise a tangible expression. Conceived by Michael Kutschbach, Short Notice brings 50 designers from different disciplines and stages of practice to the Meeting Hall. Each arrives with a work and installs it on the spot. Pieces may be finished or unfinished, familiar or speculative, with the exhibition taking shape through the contributions of those present. Its three-hour duration makes room for an immediate, collective portrait of Adelaide’s creative community.

Elsewhere, the relationships between people, materials and objects receive closer attention. At Fabrikate Studio, Grounded brings ceramics, textiles, art, sculpture and scent into a shared environment. Presented with Melbourne’s Lander Se Gallery and curated by Hannah Nowlan, the exhibition considers how works respond to one another and the hands that made them. At Michi, Yoke — Objects for Human Connection explores the capacity of handmade furniture, vessels, lighting and sculptural works to encourage closeness through making and storytelling.

These exhibitions sit within a broader program of installations, conversations, tours, workshops and open studios. Across more than 20 neighbourhoods and locations, from the CBD to Port Adelaide, galleries and universities share the festival map with retail spaces, working studios and places less commonly associated with design. Architects, artists, makers, students and visitors are invited into the same settings, bringing different forms of knowledge into contact.

As an independent platform grounded in South Australia, Adelaide Design Week offers a view of design culture through both its work and its working relationships. With every*one, the invitation is to look beyond the exhibited object, meet the people behind it and consider the exchanges that allow a creative community to grow.
