Embracing the Seamless Blend of Indoor and Outdoor Spaces: The Village

The Village, situated within the residential complex of Playa del Carmen alongside Costa, showcases Sordo Madaleno's architectural craftsmanship and Cuaik CDS's expertise in interior design.

By seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor spaces, the home creates a harmonious fusion of living environments. At the heart of The Village's lobby, a guiding principle of materiality and texture comes to life. The use of mid-tone woods, locally sourced stones, and chukum coating envelops the space, with each material standing out for its distinctive qualities. This diverse mix of elements adds depth and character to the surroundings.

Upon entering the lobby, guests are greeted by wooden stools thoughtfully positioned in the waiting area, inviting them to pause and relax. Throughout the space, wooden sculptures by K the Kilo create a seamless flow, enhancing the overall experience for passing guests.

The reception desk, with its long rounded shape and bold edges, mirrors the texture pattern found throughout the space, adding a touch of modern elegance. Suspended lamps, strategically arranged, serve as both an art installation and the primary source of illumination. Their dynamic energy infuses the soft colour palette of the surroundings, creating a visually captivating focal point.

Nature plays a significant role in The Village's design, bringing life into the space. Existing native trees were respected and thoughtfully integrated, blending through the structural columns. This integration not only adds unique textures but also offers a direct connection to nature, providing a refreshing and serene ambiance.

Meticulously crafted wooden lattices redefine the spatial boundaries, creating an interplay between openness and privacy. These lattices also facilitate natural ventilation, ensuring a comfortable environment for visitors. The flooring stones, with their prominent presence, guide the flow of movement, while the fine gravel lining the perimeter adds a subtle touch of elegance.
