Solis Movement by Simone Ferkul Projects
Solis Movement has opened a new studio in Toronto’s East End, setting a focused atmosphere for high-intensity hot yoga and Reformer Pilates.
Designed by boutique firm Simone Ferkul Projects, the interior leans into a quiet tension between softness and strength, using light, material, and sculpted form to support both discipline and restoration.
At the entry, reception and the communal lounge establish an immediate sense of calm. A ceiling skylight pulls daylight deep into the plan, easing the transition from the street and setting a composed tone. Curved overhead forms soften the volume, while diffused lighting adds a gentle glow that feels serene without losing energy. A warm, sun-washed neutral palette carries through the studio, creating continuity across programs and encouraging a slower exhale on arrival. In the open lobby, a monolithic reception desk grounds the space, complemented by custom millwork with softly lit niches that integrate storage, retail display, and circulation in one continuous gesture. Nearby, a printed quartz water-refilling station turns hydration into a simple architectural moment, reinforcing the studio’s attention to everyday rituals.
Beyond the lounge, the Reformer Pilates studio opens into a bright, window-lined room that prioritizes clarity and concentration. Expansive perimeter glazing brings in daylight and extends sightlines, giving the practice area an airy, unforced openness. Warm finishes and sculpted ceiling detailing echo the material language of the lobby, keeping the experience cohesive while supporting precision and control.
For heated practice, the hot yoga space, known as the Sun Room, shifts the mood toward intensity and immersion. Infrared heating panels are integrated into a carefully articulated ceiling, keeping the environment streamlined and visually quiet. Layered lighting deepens the sensory atmosphere, wrapping the room in warmth while maintaining a sense of control and focus. The spatial cues encourage practitioners to move through demanding sequences with steadiness, balancing effort with recovery.
In the change rooms, the studio’s wellness-focused approach continues with spa-like detailing. Soft lighting, warm materials, and integrated millwork create privacy and comfort without excess. Considered vanities, storage, and tactile finishes support the in-between moments, preparation, cool-down, and pause, so the transition is as restorative as the practice itself.
Across Solis Movement, Simone Ferkul Projects treats the interior as a continuous experience. Daylight, curvature, and warm minimal materials guide movement from arrival to exertion to reset. It is a studio designed to hold two states at once, calm and intensity, so wellness feels grounded, elevated, and carefully supported in every zone.
