Poised Perfection by PINS Studio

Poised Perfection by PINS Studio reframes a three-storey home as a bright, contemporary setting for daily life, grounded in clean lines and lifted by bold colour and a rich spread of materials.

Rather than leaning on a single statement, the project builds its character through carefully placed contrasts: warm against cool, curved against linear, and playful accents set within a clean architectural framework.

Before the renovation, the residence followed a conventional arrangement with several underused areas and a closed-off kitchen that kept daily life compartmentalised. PINS Studio approached the redesign with targeted demolition of non-load-bearing walls, paired with structural reinforcement and a clearer circulation plan. The intent was straightforward: open the home to more light, improve how the spaces connect, and make each floor feel purposeful.

On the main level, custom joinery becomes an organising device. A floating bookshelf sits between the living and dining zones, functioning as both storage and a screen divider while maintaining visual continuity across the floor. In the dining area, the shelving’s green panels shift the joinery from backdrop to feature, working in tandem with a uniquely shaped dining table to create a graphic focal point. Clean lines lead the eye through the space, while subtle curves soften edges and keep the atmosphere relaxed. Large windows draw natural light inward, brightening finishes and lending the interiors an easy, lived-in appeal.

A short distance away, the dry kitchen is planned along a narrow corridor to use space efficiently without feeling constrained. A curved island anchors the room, topped by an oversized orbital pendant that spreads a gentle wash of light across the joinery. Cabinetry is kept pared back, with stone and terracotta-like surfaces bringing depth and warmth. This restrained palette carries into the wet kitchen, where similar tones and textures support a practical, streamlined workspace.

Upstairs, the mood shifts toward calm. A cosy stairway leads to a family room where minimal furniture and abundant daylight create a quiet retreat. Adjacent, the junior master bedroom is dressed in soft neutrals, lifted by a statement headboard and playful decorative notes. A glass partition separates the sleeping area from the wardrobe, defining function while keeping the room open and bright.

Elsewhere, the bedrooms continue the home’s spirited edge through bolder colour and pattern. The master bedroom introduces vibrant yellow open shelving alongside patterned wallpaper, turning storage into a purposeful visual element. Another bedroom brings in deep blue accents that punctuate the neutral base used throughout the home, adding contrast without overpowering the broader material story.
