MEWB is a specialty coffee shop, in affiliation with Moredeepdonut, located in the sophisticated Hannam-dong district in Seoul, Korea. Designed by KKOL STUDIO the coffee bar combines the district’s stylish qualities with contemporary features.

A total of 1,141 square feet, the compact interior is centred around a prominent stainless steel column. Functioning as a brightly lit beacon, the column seamlessly connects to the smooth countertops and sleek doughnut drawers on the main level to the upper level. The designers utilised the “axis and connection” design concept to emphasise defined structural lines that visually guide guests throughout the space. Minimal concrete and white walls juxtaposed with lively finishes from reflective steel to warm orange flooring, give the interior a futuristic aesthetic that speaks to the brand’s character - fresh, energetic, and creative.

“An atmosphere similar to the distinctive aura of MEWB management: chic yet affable, nonchalant yet sensitive.”

“The bar that connects the donut drawer, column, and brewing corner simultaneously coaxes the foot traffic of customers within, guiding them to move horizontally while creating a narrative of space.”

The layout has various options for guests to socialise that include white and silver bar stools on the main level, additional booth and tabletop seating on the upper level and an outdoor terrace. A unique feature of the column is a discreetly integrated sound system, strategically placed on the lower and upper section, for guests to enjoy music, evoking a relaxing ambiance throughout the interior. The full length curved windows flood the space with natural light, as a result the space appears more expansive and can be seen by pedestrians on the street and on the overpass of Hannam-daero.

To enter the coffee shop, customers will have to go up a flight of stairs. Customers will have to go up a flight of stairs to enter the coffee shop. Due to its substantial ceiling height, the floors of each level cannot be seen from the overpass outside and instead are brought on a journey to discover a hidden feature at the top of the stairs - designed as a form of reward for customers.

Striking and visually stimulating, MEWB offers guests a dynamic cafe experience with a timeless and innovative design.
