Greenmead House by Right Angle Studio
Tucked within a verdant residential setting, Greenmead House offers a measured response to contemporary domestic life, where restraint and refinement guide every gesture.
Right Angle Studio’s approach to the interiors centres on quiet sophistication — not in grand statements, but in a careful layering of materials, considered lighting, and an emphasis on flow. The residence feels grounded and tactile, with each element working in concert to cultivate a sense of composed ease.
At its core, the home moves between contrast and continuity. A foundation of rich dark oak and earthy travertine anchors the interiors, their tonal depth bringing warmth and weight to otherwise pared-back architectural volumes. These finishes are used with precision, encouraging a rhythm of material repetition that subtly shapes how one experiences the home. Light becomes a primary influence on atmosphere, reflected softly across surfaces and drawing the outdoors in through expansive openings and deliberate sightlines.
Rather than sectioning the home into isolated functions, the planning strategy embraces a more fluid configuration. The open living and dining areas operate as an interconnected whole, stitched together by a bespoke double-ended sofa that orients itself to both settings with ease. This sense of duality runs throughout the home, balancing clarity with texture, modernity with comfort.
Furnishings are approached as sculptural inserts, offering points of contrast without overpowering the restraint of the architecture. A Poul Henningsen pendant provides a moment of unexpected elegance, its form acting as both light source and visual anchor. Elsewhere, custom joinery and tactile finishes heighten the sensory quality of each room, reinforcing a narrative built on quiet luxury.
The relationship to the garden is equally considered. Lush external planting tempers the clean geometry of the building’s steel-framed form, encouraging a dialogue between the natural and constructed. This interaction fosters a sense of serenity — not through detachment, but through deliberate integration.
Greenmead House ultimately proposes a calm yet distinctive way of living. Every decision — from spatial configuration to material palette — has been tuned to enhance both the everyday and the exceptional, offering a home that is rich in experience, yet remarkably understated in tone.
