EDL Gallery in Singapore

Designed by The Afternaut Group and built in collaboration with architectural counterparts at Formwerkz, the gallery reframes the idea of a showroom as a place for discovery rather than display. Far removed from the bustle of the city centre, it rewards the journey with a sequence of immersive environments that challenge conventional expectations.

Conceived as a place to explore rather than simply browse, the gallery is organised as a series of experiential zones, each revealing a different facet of EDL’s material categories and applications. Physical displays are supported by interactive touchpoints and a digital portal accessed via a 3D QR code, extending the experience beyond the walls of the gallery. Repurposed offcuts are integrated throughout, reinforcing a material-conscious approach while highlighting the creative possibilities of interior surfaces.

Visitors are introduced to the gallery through the Aptico Bar, where next-generation smart, matt laminates are presented in an unexpected setting. A monumental lampshade anchors the zone, its exaggerated scale evoking a sense of playful discovery. Constructed using EDL Compact offcuts, the installation demonstrates how discarded material can be reimagined as a structural and expressive element.

Moving deeper inside, The Canopy offers a calm, forest-like environment dedicated to wood decors. Concealed pull-out panels allow full-sheet viewing of laminates, encouraging close inspection of grain, texture, and finish. The atmosphere here is deliberately subdued, creating a moment of pause within the overall journey.

This serenity is contrasted by The Cavern, an immersive zone inspired by illuminated caves. Abstract laminates frame collections of stone, marble, fabric, and patterned surfaces, while controlled lighting heightens contrast and clarity. The interplay of shadow and illumination resets the senses, preparing visitors for what lies ahead.

The Cabin shifts the experience into a domestic context, presenting EDL Compact solutions within a contemporary living setting. Worktops and backsplashes are integrated into a familiar environment, allowing visitors to visualise how these materials might function in everyday life, balancing durability with visual appeal.

Located within an industrial estate in Singapore, the EDL Gallery offers a new way of engaging with interior materials—one that merges learning, sustainability, and tactile exploration into a carefully curated destination.

A more contemplative atmosphere is found in Module Spa, which draws inspiration from spa environments to present EDL Module, a collection of Japanese wall cladding materials. Soft lighting and tactile surfaces encourage slower engagement, positioning material selection as a sensory experience rather than a purely visual one.

The journey concludes at Viefe Studio, where attention turns to detail. A curated selection of handles, knobs, wall hooks, and door stoppers highlights the role of small-scale elements in shaping the character of interiors. Precision, texture, and finish take centre stage, reinforcing the idea that refinement often lies in the smallest components.

Rather than functioning as a conventional showroom, the EDL Gallery operates as an immersive environment for exploration and experimentation. Each zone invites visitors to engage with materials through context, sensation, and narrative, offering a holistic perspective on how surfaces, details, and craftsmanship come together in contemporary interiors.
