COSMOS, TIME, AND MOVEMENT

A lifelong exploration, Turbina cultivates a dialogue; a constant and evolving narrative that is rooted in all areas of our being – a way of life and understanding.

Located in Barcelona, Turbina focuses on the creation of pieces, objects, and machines that contemplate the concepts of cosmos and time. Through their work, they reflect on life’s transcendental questions; framing our experiences of the unknown.

They respect the materials own language, select them for they are implicit symbology and they explore their possibilities while comprehending their nature. Manufactured by themselves in a slow and thorough process.

COSMOS AWARNESS PROGRAM

Instrumentation generates information about the Cosmos not only from visible light, but also from radiowaves and microwaves, infrared and ultraviolet light, X-ray and Gamma rays. The universe is exhibiting powerful phenomena and processes that function on planes of reality well outside of our ordinary frame of reference.

Through the ages, developments in instrumentation have affected and often stimulated changes in philosophical perspectives related to space.

Cosmos Awarness Program is a space object taxonomy project.

FUTURE ARCHEOLOGY

TRBN 20/18 Future Archeology: The Object as connection and symbol to understand past and future times. The pieces are inspired by traditional pottery and made up intersecting earth and stone through fired clay and stone cast. The concept starts from the concave and circular shapes of the bowl and plate, depriving them of their original functionality. As an archeological site, the pieces operate as time capsules: searching leads from their material remains, thinking of possible futures in the past.

Developed for Kilometro Zero Project:

A curated collection of objects conceptualised during the Spanish quarantine and crafted within the immediate surroundings of each designers house. Kilometro Zero is a project that encourages reflection, re-evaluation, and union. A desire to document a unique time in our history and an ambition that perhaps things could be different. Curated by Sanna Völker.

PENDULUM CLOCK

DISC CLOCK / PENDULUM CLOCK

No hours, no minutes, no seconds.

The Clock series inform us on the trace of time. Through a slow rotation, the Disc Clock places us in an ever-lasting present.

These kinetic sculptures are made by an organic reaction on marble cast carving each piece in unique stone shapes and colours. The subtle disc / pendulum movement is powered by a 1.5V AAA battery. They are presented on a brass base plated in 24k gold or sterling silver.

SELENOGRAPHY

Lunar Rock is a current material investigation.

“A project about the celestial body nearest to the Earth. The Moon’s kinship with the planet is evident in the dominions of ancient lunar deities. The moon presides over conception, pregnancy and birth, over the agricultural cycles of showing and reaping, over every kind of coming into being.”
