CANCAN Flagship Showroom by Right Angle Studio

Set within the industrial shell of Singapore’s Tan Boon Liat Building, the CANCAN flagship showroom by Right Angle Studio approaches retail as an atmosphere to inhabit.

Named after a colloquial expression that suggests everything is possible, the boutique translates that everyday optimism into an interior defined by generosity, calm, and spatial clarity.

The plan is organised as a series of fluid, pocketed zones, each tuned to a different pace of use. Boundaries stay intentionally porous, creating gentle visual connections between areas while supporting smooth movement across the space. Circulation and adjacency are carefully composed to invite pauses, informal gatherings, and moments of lingering, so the showroom is experienced as a lived environment, not a static display.

Entry begins with a tunnelled approach that compresses the threshold and heightens a sense of arrival. Just inside, an integrated café establishes immediate ease, grounding the first encounter in comfort and familiarity. Facing it, a chair gallery reads as a podium-like stage, setting a focal point for the showroom and giving the act of browsing a quiet sense of ceremony. From here, a sequence of settings progresses through conversation nooks, lounging rooms, and living–dining compositions that demonstrate the furniture in context, allowing each piece to be read through use, scale, and proximity.

Existing structural columns are given a new role as volumetric light slots. What could have been awkward obstructions become luminous markers that support wayfinding and sharpen the space’s overall definition, adding brightness without visual noise.

At the rear, an open pavilion anchors the layout as a calm high point. Natural light pours into this zone, creating a meditative setting where the furniture can be encountered in its most distilled presence. A sense of retreat emerges within the expansive footprint, balancing volume with stillness and giving the showroom a measured, restorative quality.
